MY DICTAR, an innovative Arabic learning application developed by students from MTs Minhajut Tholabah in Kembangan Bukateja, Purbalingga, has clinched the top spot in the National Islamic Religious Studies category at the Madrasah Young Researchers Supercamp (MYRES) 2023. This prestigious event took place from September 2 to 7, 2023, in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi.
Under the guidance of Asri Fitri Yurdila and Zulfatul Faizah, two talented young ladies named Hafidh Aulia Khoirunnisa (Nisa) and Alvi Ulil Ma’rifah (Alvi) successfully developed an Android application named MY DICTAR, available for download on the Play Store. Their groundbreaking research project, titled “MY DICTAR: An Android App for Tarkib Dictionary Based on Nahwu-Shorof Rules,” was presented during the competition.
“Arabic language learning, particularly Nahwu-Shorof, has always been a challenging subject for students. Approximately 80% of students struggle with Arabic language proficiency. Furthermore, MTs Minhajut Tholabah is progressing towards becoming a digital madrasah. These factors motivated and supported the development of the MY DICTAR Android application, which aims to assist Arabic language learning,” explained Alvi during her presentation on September 4.
Following their presentation, the team from MTs Minhajut Tholabah, representing Central Java, hosted an expo on September 4-5, 2023.
“Our expo booth attracted the attention of Ms. Enny Yaqut, who expressed her utmost appreciation for the MY DICTAR application. She encouraged us to submit it to the Ministry of Religious Affairs (PK Pontren). Additionally, the development of this application is supported by the Director of the Center for Islamic Religious Education (KSKK), with the goal of taking it to the international stage,” said Zulfa, proudly mentioning their achievement in Purbalingga.
Supporting Digital Madrasah Education
The entire Directorate of Islamic Religious Education at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, including representatives from various provinces, has shown great support for MY DICTAR. They have downloaded and tested the application.
“Alhamdulillah, it’s extraordinary, and we are honored to have represented MTs Minhajut Tholabah, Islamic boarding schools, our city, Purbalingga, and Central Java. We’ve also introduced MY DICTAR to all provinces,” Nisa expressed her enthusiasm.
Inna Nurmafiyanti, the school’s head, who accompanied the students, praised her students’ outstanding achievement as the National Champions.
“We hope this serves as an inspiration for other schools in Purbalingga and beyond. Let us never tire of striving to encourage and support our students in achieving the highest possible level of success,” Inna expressed her hope.
